On May 13/08 at 10:00 a.m., West Grey Police received a report of a stolen 2008 GMC pick-up from Garafraxa St. Durham. The owner had left the keys in the vehicle while attending inside a local business. With the assistance of On-Star, Police located the vehicle in Harriston ON. OPP attended to the location. A male suspect took off in the truck and OPP gave pursuit. The pursuit ended between Clifford and Mildmay when the truck went off the road and into a swamp. The suspect fled on foot through the swamp. OPP canine and Emergency Response Team conducted a search and later that afternoon the suspect gave himself up. Arrested and charged with several criminal offences is a 30 year old Durham man. He is being held in Walkerton jail awating a bail hearing. The truck was recovered with extensive damage.

Occurrence Type: Break Enter and Thefts

Over the past week West Grey Police investigated several Break and Enters within West Grey. Four homes in Glenelg Twp had been entered by forcing the basement doors and window. Nothing appeared to be taken, however damage was done to the doors and windows.
In Bentinck Twp two trailers and a shed had been entered, nothing appeared to be taken in these break-ins.
In Durham on May 19/08 person(s) unknown entered a factory on Douglas St. A rear door had been kicked in and once inside the person(s) gathered power tools and hand tools. They left the property with some of the tools and left the others at the rear door. Police are still investigating and attempting to put a dollar figure on the stolen tools
