On October 11, 2008 at approximately 6:48 P.M. West Grey Police responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on the Base Line south of the Varney Road in the former Normanby Township. The driver of the vehicle a 19 year old Ayton man displayed signs of consuming alcohol and was given the demand to provide a sample of this breath into an approved roadside screening device which he did and subsequently failed. He was then brought back to the Durham Office where he provide 2 more samples of his breath into an approved instrument and failed. The accused is to appear in court in Walkerton on October 27, 2008.

Approximately 310 vehicles were stopped over the holiday weekend in RIDE Spot Checks. As a result only a few Highway Traffic Act offences were dealth with. No driver’s were charged with alcohol related driving offences.

Occurrence Type: Minor Injuries in Rollover

Details

A 56 year old Glenelg Township man recieved minor injuries when he lost control of the vehicle he was operating. The vehicle left the travelled portion of the roadway after a bug flew in the open driver’s window towards the driver’s face. The vehicle then spun around, entered the ditch and rolled over. The driver sustained only minor injuries.
