On January 13, 2009 Grey County OPP recovered a stolen 1998 Dodge Ram that had been taken on January 9 from a Glenelg Twp home. The truck was located on Southgate road 49 with extensive front end damage. West Grey Police, through their investigation, arrested and charged a 45 year old Durham man. On Sunday, January 25, police located the suspect on Garafraxa St. S in Durham and arrested him. He is being held for a bail hearing on Monday January 26/09 in Walkerton. At the time of the arrest the suspect was found with a small amount of a controlled substance and he also faces three counts of breach of Probation.

On January 20, 2009 West Grey Police located a truck in the ditch on Con 2 WGR Bentinck Twp. The police located the driver a short distance away and arrested the 45 year old Glenelg Twp man for Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and drive a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol was over the legal limit. He will appear in a Walkerton Court on February 2, 2009

Occurrence Type: Two Stolen Vehicles Recovered and two males Charged

On January 23, 2009 at 4:00 a.m. West Grey Police attended to Con 2 WGR Bentinck Twp for a report of a stolen pick-up truck. The home owner reported his truck had been taken from his shed and the two suspects had drove it onto the front yard and left it in the snow. One of the suspects had entered his attached garage and was met by the home owner. The supect took off. West Grey Police K-9 unit attended, the K-9 officer located one of the suspects behind a tree on the property and arrested him.
During the arrest the officers received a second call reporting the theft of another vehicle from across the road from the first call. Police located that vehicle still on the property. The suspects had taken the Pontiac Grand Prix and drove it into a bridge and into a creek. This theft had occurred just prior to the first call. Several officers from West Grey Police along with two officers from the Hanover Police assisted the K-9 unit in a search for the second suspect. After a two hour search, Police received information from the public of a male person along Grey road 4 west of Durham. West Grey Police officers located the male and arrested him. Both are being held in custody in Walkerton jail and face several charges.

Occurrence Type: Stolen Snowmobiles and a Trailer

West Grey Police are investigating the theft of two Artic Cat snowmobiles and the trailer. The theft occurred sometime around the 20th or 21st of January. The machines had been left on the trailer at a local snowmobile dealer for repairs. The owner had attended on January 23 to pick-up his machines when he realized they had been taken. The machines are a 2002 and 2003 ZL600 model Artic Cat and the trailer is a black enclosed unit. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in solving this crime.
