DEPUTY CHIEF of POLICE
The Municipality of West Grey, located in southwestern Ontario, is an amalgamated municipality, consisting of the former Townships of Bentinck, Glenelg and Normanby, the former village of Neustadt, and the former Town of Durham. West Grey is the largest municipality in the County of Grey, in terms of geographic area, and has a population of approximately 12,500.
The West Grey Police Service consists of 19 full time uniform members, 2 part time uniform members, a special constable, administration support staff and an auxiliary unit.
The Deputy Chief of Police under the direction of the Chief of Police will be responsible for managing, planning, organizing and coordinating the work of sworn and civilian personnel in the day to day operations. Community-oriented policing is a priority and the successful candidate will be an active participant throughout the community. Working closely with the West Grey Police Services Board, staff, the Police Association, The Municipality of West Grey, volunteer and community groups, you will continue to build on the progressive path already established to address the changing needs of the service and the community.
You will have demonstrated leadership skills within a police organization, the skills to build alliances, community relations and partnerships. You will have excellent communication skills and experience in public/media relations, and a sound commitment to community based policing.
