Friday November 13, 2009 at 8:50 p.m. West Grey Police were called to investigate a missing 56 year old Normanby Township man. Mr. Ralph Holliday of Road 63 Normanby Twp had last been seen around 4:45 p.m. operating his Dodge pick up truck westbound from his home. The truck had been located parked at a barn he rents on Concession 2 WGR. An intensive search had been conducted by several citizens in the area. West Grey Police called in extra officers and members from the West Grey Fire Service and the North Wellington Fire Service to assist. A large scale search of the area fields, barns and swamp was conducted throughout the night. The O.P.P. Emergency Response Team along with several members of the Grey County and Wellington County O.P.P. assisted. Two K-9 units were also utilized. At day break the O.P.P. helicopter and over 50 citizens joined the search. By night fall the search was suspended and the area was secured by members of the West Grey Police. On Sunday morning the search resumed. An O.P.P. Underwater Search and Recovery Team attended and divers entered the pond to the north of the location where the truck was found. At 1:45 p.m. the divers located the body of Mr. Holliday in the water. His body was removed and sent to Owen Sound for an autopsy on Monday afternoon. No foul play is expected.
