CHIEF’S NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE
It’s once again time to reflect on the past year and plan for the year ahead.
For the West Grey Police Service 2009 was a busy year and didn’t pass without tragedy. I speak of the August 20th tornado that left a terrible path of destruction and claimed the life of a young child. I can’t thank the community and those from outside the community enough for coming together to help those in need.
2009 also saw some changes in the service with the appointment of Constable Mitch Roulston, the appointment of Deputy Chief Dan Rioux and the retirement of Deputy Chief Robert Thompson who retired after 31 years of dedicated service to the community.
What are my plans for 2010? In many ways, the same as in the past. That is to remain focused on our Community Policing initiatives and our Mission and Vision Statements. To make this happen though we need to work effectively with our partners which include the community, support groups and other stakeholders. I continue to welcome input from anyone who feels we could do more or should change to better serve the citizens of West Grey.
All the best to you all in 2010 !
Rene M. Berger
Chief of Police
