A police pursuit took place on June 22, after a 15 year old driver refused to pull over a vehicle. On June 22 at 5 pm, a West Grey Police officer was leaving the Durham station, when the officer noted a suspicious looking driver behind the wheel of an older model Acura. The officer checked the plates, which resulted in finding out the vehicle had been stolen from Hamilton. The officer turned on the emergency lights. The driver refused to pull over the vehicle, and the officer continued on for 8.8 km, before the pursuit was terminated. The following day, the vehicle and the driver were located. The 15 year old was charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000, four counts of breach of probation, and flight from police.

The West Grey Police are investigating damages and mischief happening at the River Side Park in Durham. Sometime over the previous week, the portable toilet was pushed over, and concrete and wooden benches were thrown into the lake. West Grey Police Chief Rene Berger says officers will be patrolling the park more frequently. Anyone who has any information about the mischief is asked to contact West Grey Police Service, or Crime Stoppers.

West Grey Police Service conducted RIDE checks over the previous week. In total, 269 vehicles were checked, resulting in one charged under the highway traffic act, one three day suspension after a road side screening test was conducted, and one person charged with driving while suspended. Chief Berger says that more RIDE will be conducted throughout the summer time. These RIDE checks are part of an agreement with six local police forces to combat speeding, aggressive driving, drinking and driving, seatbelt violations with a concentration on areas with a high traffic level. Residents will see officers from other municipalities in their area.
“This effort is an excellent example of how well law enforcement agencies can come together in the interest of public safety and I feel confident that these endeavours will provide positive results”, said Berger.
The neighbouring police services include, Saugeen Shores Police Service, Hanover Police Service, Owen Sound Police Service, and the Grey County and South Bruce OPP detachments.

West Grey Police responded to a call of a collision on June 27, at 3:45 pm. West Grey Police investigated, and found that a Pontiac Sunfire, operated by a 47 year old woman from Kitchener, was driving on Grey Road 10, driving north bound, when her vehicle entered the south bound lane, striking a Ford pickup operated by a 32 year old man from Mildmay.
The truck then hit a Pontiac Vibe being operated by a 39 year old woman from Fordwich. The driver of the Vibe, and the driver of the Sunfire were taken to hospital complaining of back pain. The driver of the Vibe was charged with careless driving. Extensive damage was done to all three vehicles.
