RIDE Programs over last week resulted in 749 vehicles being checked. This resulted in four Highway Traffic Act violations, four warnings, one liquor seizure, one license suspension, and one charge of impaired driving. The impaired driver charged on Grey Road 4, on Aug. 2. The officers performing the RIDE programs observed obvious signs of intoxication. A road side screening test was administered, which registered a fail. The driver was taken to the police station for Breathalyzer tests, where he registered 162 mg and 165 mg of alcohol per 100 liters of blood. The 21-year-old Mount Forest man was charged with impaired driving over the legal limit and impaired driving. He has a court date in Walkerton for Aug. 19.

West Grey Officers responded to a call from a concerned resident after a mortar shell bomb was found while the resident was gardening. West Grey Police notified the OPP Explosive Disposal Unit, who rendered the bomb safe and removed it.

West Grey Police officers executed a drug warrant on Aug. 6 at 7 am. The warrant was executed at a residence on George Street in Durham and resulted in a 20-year-old woman being charged with possession of methamphetamine, and a 29-year-old male charged for being in possession of a prohibited weapon, as a pair of brass knuckles was found in the residence. West Grey Police Service was assisted by the Saugeen Shores K-9 Unit.
