The West Grey Police, in conjunction with the MNR, are investigating an incident from early morning on November 6th on Concession Rd 14, Glenelg Township. The owner of a farm located on Con 14 had turned her horses out to pasture at 6:00 pm on November 5th and when she checked on them at 7:30 am on November 6th she discovered her 7 year old Haflinger mare was dead and had apparently been shot. An examination revealed the horse had indeed been shot, probably by a high powered rifle sometime during the night. The time span between when the horse was turned out and found is outside legal shooting times and indicates that whoever shot the animal was probably poaching. Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information concerning this incident to contact the Police, MNR or Grey County Crime stoppers.
