West Grey Police Service responded to a call from the Tim Horton’s location in Durham on Oct. 29 regarding an assault at the drive-thru. A 73-year-old driver, upset with the driver ahead in line, honked the horn on his vehicle. the second driver, a 48-year-old man, responded with verbal obscenity which immediately resulted in an obscene reply from the first man. The accused exited his car, approached the victim’s vehicle, reached inside, and slapped the victim on the face, then returned to his vehicle and departed. The incident was caught on surveillance camera. The accused was located by police and arrested for assault. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date in Walkerton on Dec. 10.

Details
Police were called to a residence on George Street on Oct. 31, regarding a domestic assault. Upon arrival, the officers met a 24-year-old woman who complained that her 31-year-old common-law spouse had assaulted her. The victim received a small cut caused by a bite. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. Investigation revealed that the victim and accused, who are in the process of separating, had argued, resulting in the victim’s injury. Police charged the accused with assault and released him on an undertaking to appear in court on Dec. 20.

Details
West Grey police Service responded to an assault incident on Augusta Street in Ayton. Investigation revealed that two brothers, who are undergoing a child custody dispute, had been involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation. During the fight, the 32-year-old brother used a cane to strike the other on the head. The victim suffered cuts to his head and right ear, which required medical treatment and several stitches. The accused was charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. He was released with a court date of Nov. 29 in Walkerton.

Details
Motorists are advised to take extra precaution when driving, as this is the time of year animals are on the move. West Grey Police had 11 vehicle-animal accidents reported, with eight of those collisions involving deer. Two involved domestic animals, a horse and a dog. Deputy Chief Dan Rioux says drivers need to slow down and use extra caution.

Police are investigating a break and enter to a residence on the South Line in Glenelg township. The incident was reported on Nov. 7. Someone entered a shed and stole several items, including an Artic Cat 2007, 4×4 ATV valued at $8,500, a Model 30 Stihl chainsaw, and a 5 gallon Mastercraft air compressor.
