West Grey Police Service charged three drivers for being on a closed highway last week. Deputy Chief Dan Rioux says the dangers of being on a closed road is to all people on the road, as well as to the officers and other emergency personnel who are dispatched to an incident on a closed road. Rioux says that a person on a closed road could be faicinga fine of $110.

West Grey Poilce Service is asking anyone with information to come forward regarding a vhicle being scratched in the parking lot of the Durham Community Centre on Sat. Jan. 22, 2011. The owner of a Ford Expedition said the vehicle was scratched along both sides. The owner of the vehicle entered the Community Centre at 8pm, and returned to the vehicle at approximately 11pm to find the vehicle scratched, and there were small dents as well. Occurrence Type: Spot Checks

WGPS conducted spot check on the trails of the snowmobile trails. Approximately 30 snowmobiles were checked, resulting in one driver being charged in regards to a person driving a snow vehicle without vaild permit. Officers were also checking for other violations, including whether the driver was wearing a helmet, and checking for permits, insurance and licenses.

Occurrence Type: Vehicle Theft

WGPS are investigating the theft of a Ford Ranger from a residence on Mary Street in Ayton. The vehicle, blue in colour, was stolen from the residence sometime between Jan. 22-23. The owner of the vehicle reported the incident to WGPS on Jan. 23, after realiznig the vehicle was missing. The vehicle was recovered by Hanover Police Service, and was examined by WGPS scenes of crime officer. Investigation is continuing. If you have any information, please call WGPS or Crime Stoppers.

Occurrence Type: Trespassing

WGPS has been receiving complaints regarding snowmobiles being driven on properties, without the property owners permission. Rioux says that persons operating snowmobiles on property where they don’t have permission are committing the offence of trespass to property.
