Details
West Grey officers on general patrol in the vicinity of Allan Park attempted to stop the driver of a white Pontiac after observing the vehicle failing to stop for a stop sign. This caused one driver to have to take measures to avoid a collision. WGPS activated the emergency lights on the police vehicle, as well as the siren. The vehicle failed to stop, until the vehicle reached the vicinity of Wal-Mart on Grey Road 4. The pursuit went to speeds in excess of 90 km per hour. Once the driver was stopped, the driver was charged with failing to yield to through traffic, and failing to yield to right of way of an emergency vehicle.

Occurrence Type: Window shatters after object thrown at moving vehicle

Details
A woman driving west on Grey Road 4 had her vehicle struck by an object thrown by a passenger of a small white car, travelling east on the same road. This caused the window to shatter. The woman turned her vehicle around towards Durham, and tried to follow the vehicle. She then drove to the WGPS to report the incident to police. The incident occurred on We., March 9 at 5:40pm. Police are asking that if you ahve any information, please contact the WGPS or Crime Stoppers.

Occurrence Type: Man Arrested for Theft

Details
WGPS arrested a 20-year-old Durham resident on March 6, after the person was caught stealing from the Crazy Dollar Store in Durham. The WGPS were called to the incident by an employee who observed the theft. The accused was arrested for theft under 5,000 and was released with a court date of April 11. WGPS are reminding residents that the act of stealing is serious, and does creaet a criminal record for the culprit

Occurrence Type: No Ignition Interlock device in vehicle leads to charges

Details
While conducting a RIDE check on March 13, officers were approached by a vehicle that was being operated by a person known to the police. The driver was a 33-year-old Markdale man. He was operating his friend’s vehicle. He had previously been ordered not to be operating a motor vehicle that deosn’t have one of these devices installed on the vehicle. The man was charged under the HTA with operating a motor vehicle without approved ignition interlock device. The vehicle was impounded for seven days. He has a court date of April 5.
