West Grey – On April 18, WGPS responded to an assault complaint at a residence on
Caroline St. is Ayton. Police investigation indicates that two men had engaged is a dispute over the sale of a motorcycle from two years earlier. The victim, a 42-year-old West Grey resident, was accosted on the street is front of his house by the 45-year-old suspect, a resident of West Grey. The suspect invited the victim into his vehicle; however the victim declined.
At this point, police reported, the suspect produced a baseball bat and swung it at the victim, striking him is the wrist and shoulder. The victim ran into his house and called police. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving. The victim went to the Hanover and District Hospital and was treated for a broken wrist and bruising. WGPS have obtained a warrant for the arrest of the suspect.

Occurrence Type: WOMAN WITH BIKE, HIT BY VEHICLE

On April22, at 7:20pm, WGPS responded to a fail to remain incident that occurred at the intersection of Garafraxa St. and Lambton St. in Durham. Police report that a 23-year-old woman was walking her bicycle across Garafraxa St. on a green light when a white van turned the corner off Lambton St. and struck her, knocking her down and damaging her bike. Police said the driver briefly stopped and said to the victim “you’re OK, right?” and then got back in the van and drove away. The victim immediately went home, where her mother called the police and then took her to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. The victim suffered numerous scrapes and bruises and was treated and released. The bike suffered extensive damage to both wheels, seat and handle bars. Police are looking for a white van, possibly a full size Ford Econoline. Police are asking that if anyone has information about this incident to call WGPS or Crime Stoppers.

Occurrence Type: ARGUMENT ESCALATES TO ASSAULT

On April 18 at approximately 9:30pm, the WGPS were dispatched to a residence in Durham to respond to an ongoing domestic disturbance. Investigation determined that there had been a verbal argument between the couple over some domestic issues. The verbal argument escalated to a point where the suspect, a 42-year-old man, pushed his 46-year-old wife, causing her to fall backward and hit the counter. The victim did not suffer any serious injuries and did not require medical treatment.
The suspect was arrested by police and was taken to the police station where he was charged for assault. He was released on a Promise To Appear for court on June 6th is Walkerton.
