WGPS is investigating a break, enter and theft, which totaled a loss of $2,600. ON May 8, WGPS were called to a seasonal residence on Conc. 14 of the former Bentinck Township. Police investigation determined that three sheds and one barn had been broken into by prying the locks off the doors. Once inside, culprits took off with a Stihl Chainsaw, 90CC Baha Dirt Bike, and a Homelite Snow Blower. Police have received reports of three similar break and enters is the same vicinity. Other break-ins reported that nothing was taken or minimal identified property was taken. Investigation is continuing. If you have information, please call WGPS or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Occurrence Type: BEER BOTTLE THROWN AT PEDESTRIANS

Details
An incident involving a thrown beer bottle, and a mother and daughter walking is Durham, could have led to serious injury. The victims were walking on Saddler Street is Durham, the mother pushing a stroller. A silver car approached the victims, and without slowing down, threw a Budweiser beer bottle at the victims, missing the victims but the bottle smashed close to them. The vehicle then turned onto Queen Street. If you have information, contact the WGPS or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. WGPS Deputy Chief Dan Rioux reported to The Post that this incident could have seriously injured someone, had the bottle struck the victims. He said that an incident such as this one would lead to, at minimum, a charge of criminal assault. Had it caused injury, the charge could have been assault with a weapon and/or assault causing bodily harm.

WGPS performed three RIDE programs over the week of May 1-8. In total, 155 vehicles were checked, resulting in one charge of driving over 80mg. On May 4, a 35-year-old male driver from Durham was stopped at the RIDE check, and told officers that he had consumed two beers. A road-side screening test was used, resulting in a fail. The man was then transported to the WGPS for breathalyzer tests, where he registered over the legal limit. He was charged with over 80. The man was later released on a promise to appear with a court date of June 20. Subsequently, the man was given a 90-day suspension of his license and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
