PRESS RELEASE REGARDING SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

The West Grey Police Service is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred just outside Durham Saturday evening.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. a blue Dodge pickup truck was southbound on Bentinck Sideroad 30 north of Grey Rd. 4 with two male occupants from the Alliston area. The truck left the roadway and rolled. One of the occupants was ejected. The West Grey Fire Department and Grey County EMS attended the scene. Collision Reconstruction experts from the Ontario Provincial Police attended to assist with the investigation.

Both occupants of the truck were transported by ambulance to the Durham Hospital. One male was then airlifted to the Hamilton General Hospital in critical condition. The second male was treated at the Durham Hospital and released.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. Excessive speed and alcohol consumption are suspected to be factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing and the names of the involved persons are being withheld pending the results of the investigation.
