WEST GREY – All persons involved in a two vehicle collision needed medical attention after a van and a car collided on Saturday morning. A minivan driving south-bound on County Road 3 entered the intersection and collided with an eastbound car carrying four people travelling on County Road 4. There was one person in the minivan. All were transported to Hanover District Hospital. The injuries of those in the car were minor to major, said West Grey Police Chief Rene Berger. The driver of the van was airlifted to London hospital with what he believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was detoured for four hours while West Grey Police Service collision technicians and police investigated. The collision is under investigation. Grey Road 4 was closed from Grey Road 28 is Hanover to Mulock Road. This incident, along with an unrelated collision in Varney, caused the Durham Fall Fair parade to be delayed for approximately an hour. The woman operating the van is from Brant Township. The people in the car are from the Durham area.

WEST GREY – WGPS were dispatched to Grey Road 4, after receiving a report of a single motor vehicle collision Aug. 24. Investigation determined a 1994 Volkswagon was driving west bound on Grey Road 4, east of Hanover, when the vehicle crossed the centre line and struck the ditch on the opposite side of the road where the vehicle rolled. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. WGPS charged the 21-year-old driver with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. He was further charged with breach of probation. He was released with a court date of Oct. 17.

West Grey Police received a report of an unknown suspects painting the rear license plate and bumper were painted with black paint. The incident was reported on Aug. 21. WGPS is asking for information regarding the theft of numerous items were stolen from a workshop on Grey Road 3. A Metabo, Walters and Sears craftsman grinders were taken along with a Milwaukee metal portable band saw, as well as a self-darkening welders helmet. Occurrence Type: DOOR KICKED IN AT RESIDENCE

West Grey Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward to police or Crime Stoppers, regarding an incident involving a break and enter to a residence on Victoria Street is Ayton. Suspects kicked open a door and, once inside, ransacked the residence. Beds were over turned, closets were emptied, and drawers were emptied. Value of the damage is $500. It is believed to have happened sometime between July 25 and Aug. 22.
