West Grey – On July 27 at 8:37 p.m. West Grey Police Service were dispatched to a residence on Garafraxa Street, in Durham, regarding an unwanted person. Officers attended the residence and spoke to the complainants who advised that the accused male, a 23-year-old, and a female suspect were banging on the complainants apartment doors and playing loud music. The officers attended and cautioned the accused and the female suspect. Officers were advised by dispatch to attend the residence again at 1 a.m. regarding yelling and playing loud music. The yelling and the loud music could be heard by the officers at the accused’s apartment. The accused was issued a Noise By-Law ticket and cautioned in regards to mischief. Again, at 1:44 a.m., police were requested by dispatch to re-attend to the accused’s address regarding the continued yelling and loud music. The officers attended and issued the accused an Appearance Notice for one count of Mischief. The officers then left the building and could immediately hear the loud music and the accused yelling from his apartment. The officers immediately returned to the accused’s apartment. The accused exited his apartment and he was placed under arrest for a second count of mischief. He was arrested and brought back to the West Grey Police Station where he was later released on a promise to appear and an officer in charge undertaking with a court date of October 15. On the following day, July 28, the accused was found to be breaching his officer in charge undertaking and was arrested. During the search of his person he was found to be carrying a concealed weapon under his bandana. The accused was held for a bail hearing the following day on July 29.

On July 27, at approximately 8 p.m. the police were notified of a break and enter to a residence on Concession 14 in Bentinck Township. Police Investigation determined that unknown suspects gained entry into a vehicle by cutting the chain on a gate with bolt cutters. Unknown suspects then gained entry to the house. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the house and stole a Husquanana chainsaw. Then they gained entry to a
40’ by 60’ shed and loaded up 4×8 utility trailer with larger items from the shed. These included: a Honda ATV, a Sears riding lawn mower, a Toro snow blower, a push mower, a drill press, and an assortment of hand tools. The culprit(s) fled the scene towing the trailer. Occurrence Type: OUT OF CONTROL YOUTH

Details

An uncontrollable youth was arrested on July 29. Police attended a residence on Grey Road 4 in Glenelg Township. The victim reported to police that the youth, who can’t be named under The Youth Criminal Justice Act, had been consuming alcohol and became belligerent with the victim. The youth threatened to assault the victim. Further investigation determined that the youth was released on a recognizance with a condition to abstain from the possession or consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substance. The accused was placed under arrest and was held for a bail hearing on July 30.

Details

On August 1 a complainant contacted the police to report the theft of a fireplace from the back yard of the residence located at Douglas Street, Durham. The fireplace, which has four legs and stands approximately 1’ tall, 2’-3’ in diameter was stolen. The theft occurred sometime during the night and the item is valued at $75.
