West Grey – Two individuals caught drinking under age at the Homecoming dance in Durham were charged by paid-duty officers. On Aug. 4, an 18-year-old man, who was ejected from the dance earlier, was told to leave the dance again after officers noticed he had returned. He was charged with being under 19 and consuming alcohol. Furthermore, police found numerous pieces of identification on his person. On Aug. 5, an officer charged a 16 year-old youth with consuming alcohol under the age of 19. The youth was arrested at 12:15 a.m.

A backpack carrying numerous items of value was stolen from the Neustadt Community Centre between 10 p.m. and 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 3. The owner of the backpack left it at the door of the community centre to play baseball. When he returned it was gone. Individuals were seen carrying the backpack off. The back pack contained: a wallet with health card identification, an 8 gb. iPod touch valued at $200, grey plastic roller blades valued at $50. Details

A 28-year-old man of West Grey was arrested and charged with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, after he was caught driving drunk last Sunday. An officer on patrol on Highway 6, just south of Varney, observed a vehicle swerve in and out of lanes, hitting the gravel shoulder. Consequently, the officer pulled over the vehicle and the officer performed a road side screening test on the driver. He was arrested and brought back to the station for Breathalyzer tests. He blew a 126 mg and 120 mg. He was held in custody and released on promise to appear with a court date of August 14 in Walkerton

Details

Two men were arrested after an incident of assault at a residence on Grey Road 9 in Normanby Township. On August 11 at 8:12 p.m. police received the report. Both men were injured as a result of the assault. Both were taken to the Durham Hospital for treatment. They were released on a promise to appear with an undertaking with conditions. They will appear in court on October 8 in Walkerton.

Details

On August 12, police received a report of a break and enter to a business located on Norpark Drive, just west of Highway 6. Unknown suspect(s) gained access to the building by throwing a cinder block through the window pane of the man-door. Once inside, they stole numerous items including, 30 pieces of jewelry, and 15 Wii video games, and four digital car stereo systems with digital screens.
