Occurrence Type: JOINING FORCES FOR PUBLIC SAFETY
Occurrence Number: GR – 107
Details
Seven local police services will join forces again this summer and fall working together in an effort to increase traffic safety in Grey and Bruce counties. Services from West Grey, Saugeen Shores, Hanover and Owen Sound will take part with OPP branches from Grey County, Bruce Peninsula, and South Bruce. During the summer and fall months, the amount of traffic on highways increases, which is why these agencies will be working together again this year to execute a series of traffic enforcement initiatives in Grey and Bruce counties. Enforcement initiatives will include: RIDE, speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, seatbelt violations with concentration in known trouble spots and high traffic areas. Motorists and citizens will see officers from outside their municipalities working together in their neighborhoods executing a series of traffic enforcement initiatives.
“This effort is an excellent example of how well law enforcement agencies can come together in the interest of public safety,” said Rene Berger, Chief of the West Grey Police Service. “I feel confident that these endeavors will continue to provide positive results.”
