A 48-year-old man from Varney accused of indecent exposure, was arrested last Thursday after alledgedly assaulting two West Grey Police Officers, a press release from police service stated.

Last Thursday, at 5:15p.m., two officers responded to a complaint of a man bathing in a stream located near the Varney Pond swimming area. When officers approached him, they noted he was the suspect allegedly involved in an earlier incident of indecent exposure. During the incident at the Varney Pond, he became aggressive towards the officers and began kicking one officer in the head and face area. He also assaulted the other officer with his fists and a gallon water jug, it said in the release by Police Chief Rene Berger.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of assault with a weapon and one count each of an indecent act (indecent exposure) in a public place an dassault with intent to resist arrest. He was held for a bail hearing. The officers attended the Durham hospital for injuries sustained during the incident. They were treated and released. The officers were not names in the release.
