Michael Schmidt of West Grey attended the West Grey Police Services office on Monday October 19, 2015 at 7:00p.m. with approximately 100 supporters for the purpose of being fingerprinted and photographed related to charges of theft and mischief.
People who are charged with an indictable criminal offence can be compelled to provide fingerprints pursuant to the Identification of Criminals Act.
Mr. Schmidt indicated he would not comply with the provision and was subsequently detained at the West Grey Police Service to be brought before a justice on Tuesday October 20, 2015.
Early this morning, October 20 2015, Mr. Schmidt agreed to provide his fingerprints and he was subsequently released unconditionally.
