On Monday 9 May 2016, Alvin VESSIE of West Grey was investigated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and as a result the West Grey Police were called and he was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Excess Blood Alcohol (Over 80).
Sometime overnight on 10/11 May 2016, four mailboxes were damaged on Concession 2 NDR. This type of mischief is ongoing and seems to be a rite of passage for some misguided rural persons (most likely youth). Sometime overnight on 11/12 May 2016, a person(s) cut 2 padlocks to gain entrance into Bricklin’s Snack Shack on Garafraxa St S in Durham. Once inside they stole approximately $200 worth of frozen food items and left freezer doors open thus causing the contamination of a further $500 worth of frozen food, the investigation is ongoing. On Friday 13 May 2016, between 9:30am and 3:20pm the culprit(s) entered a residence via the unlocked front door on the 40th SDR of Glenelg, West Grey. The house was gone through and a 60” flat screen TV, $300 in Canadian currency, approx. $300 worth of liquor (10 bottles) and a Sony Playstation with 4 games were stolen. The families 2 dogs were put outside in the morning. Upon the return of a family member 1 dog was still outside and the other was inside. Investigation is ongoing. Sometime between 3 and 7 May a homemade engine hoist was stolen from a backyard on Bruce St in the Town of Durham. The hoist was made from galvanized steel and stands 6’ tall and is 7’ wide.
