On Sunday 22 May 2016 police were advised of a domestic assault that has been ongoing throughout the Municipality of West Grey and other locations within Ontario. The investigation determined that the victim suffered at different times, severe injuries and caused the victim to attend different hospital throughout South Western Ontario. The accused, Jeremy Hogg, was charged with numerous offences: Domestic Assault with a Weapon, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Utter Death Threats, Weapons Dangerous, Breach of Recognizance x3, Breach of Probation x2, Possess Prohibited Weapon, Take Auto without Consent and Escape Lawful Custody. Hogg was held for a bail hearing.
On Monday 23 May 2016 in the morning hours police were advised to attend a domestic assault on Garafraxa Street in the Town of Durham. The investigation determined that the victim suffered minor injuries and the accused was charged with assault. The accused was also found in possession of pills that were not prescribed to the accused and he was subsequently charged under the Control Drugs and Substances Act. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
On Thursday 26 May 2016 unknown persons attended an address in the Former Township of Normanby within the Municipality of West Grey. The suspect(s) gained access to two outbuildings and stole a quantity of machinery/tools during the daylight hours. 2 Stihl chain saws, 2 extra chains for the saws, 2 five gallon red “Jerry” gas cans, Stihl SH55 leaf blower and a 22 gallon Campbell Hausfeld air compressor, with a total loss of property of an approximate value of $2000.00 . On Thursday 27 May 2016 unknown persons in the early morning hours went through a vehicle that was parked in a driveway on Elizabeth St in the Town of Durham. The vehicle was unlocked and the thieves stole the victim’s wallet with identification and $15.00. Police are reminding the public to lock their vehicles. On Thursday 26 May 2016 during another daytime Break & Enter unknown persons attended an address in the Former Township of Normanby within the Municipality of West Grey. The suspect(s) gained access to an outbuilding and stole machinery and tools. A Stihl chain saws, DE Walt palm sander, black can of spray paint, five gallon red “Jerry” gas can with yellow tape on handle with “diesel” write on tape and 3 aerosol cans of lubricant oil, with a total loss of property, of an approximate value of $600.00. On Friday 27 May 2016 in the early morning hours police were advised to attend a domestic assault in the Former Township of Bentinck. The investigation determined that the victim suffered minor injuries and the accused was charged with assault and choking. The accused was also in possession of a prohibited weapon. This is still under investigation. The accused was held for a bail hearing.
On Saturday 28 May 2016 in the early evening hours police were advised to assist MNR with a possible impaired driver in the Former Township of Bentinck. The investigation revealed that the accused was operating a motor vehicle and also had open liquor within the vehicle. The accused failed to provide a sample of his breath and was charged accordingly. The accused was released with a fingerprint/court date in the near future.
