During the period of June 12 2016 to June 19 2016 members of the West Grey Police Service responded to 64 calls for service.
-POLICE responded to 8 motor vehicle collisions during that time period with some minor injuries being reported. Drivers are reminded to watch out for children who will soon be on summer vacation and will be out playing in our neighborhoods.
-POLICE continue to lay a large number of charges for speeding and other traffic offences pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act. The motoring public is advised that the West Grey Police in conjunction with the OPP and neighboring Police services will once again be taking part in a provincial “crack down’ focusing on aggressive driving.
On June 13 2016 during the overnight hours a vehicle parked in a driveway was entered and $175.00 in cash was stolen. The public is reminded that theft from parked vehicles is on ongoing problem in Grey County. LOCK your vehicle and Do NOT leave valuables in plain sight.
On June 16 2016 during evening hours concerned neighbors contacted police and reported an intoxicated, suicidal female. POLICE spoke with the female and she agreed to accompany police to the hospital. The female was held until she was sober and was admitted for treatment pursuant to the Mental Health Act.
On June 16 2016 in the late afternoon police were called to a family dispute. Investigation revealed that a male who was currently on probation for threats and also on a judicial release with charges pending had once again engaged in a criminally threatening manner towards his family. A male was arrested and is facing additional charges of uttering threats to burn property, uttering threats to cause death and breach of probation. The male party was held in custody pending a bail hearing on all of his charges.
On June 18 2016 during the dinner hour police were called to report of a naked, intoxicated woman causing a disturbance in a residence. POLICE arrived and found the female in a drunken, belligerent state. The female was determined to be on bail for domestic violence and firearms offences and was prohibited from being at that particular address as well as prohibited from consuming alcohol. The female was promptly arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing on all of her charges.
