During the period of August 6 2016 to August 13 2016 members of the West Grey Police Service              responded to 96 calls for service.

-POLICE responded to 9 motor vehicle collisions during that time period with minor injuries being      reported at some of them. POLICE would like to remind drivers that deer are on the move especially during the late evening and early morning hours. Drivers are required to call POLICE and remain at the scene of an accident as long as it is safe to do so.

-POLICE continue to respond to a large number of “non-crisis” Mental Health related calls. The public is reminded that information on how to deal with and find help for persons with Mental Health issues is readily available online and through your health care provider.

On August 6 2016 at dusk POLICE were called to attend a rural residence regarding gun shots. Unknown persons had been firing shotguns and the pellets [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][birdshot] had been raining down on the complainants back deck. Members of the firearms community are reminded that you are responsible for ensuring that you have a safe location and backdrop when discharging firearms.

On August 6 2016 POLICE were called to attend a residence in Ayton regarding an unprovoked assault. A male reported being attacked and beaten in his driveway by an unknown assailant. Anyone with information is requested to contact the West Grey Police or Crime Stoppers.

On Sunday August 7 2016 POLICE were called to an area campground to remove an unruly intoxicated male. The male was offered an option by POLICE of leaving and spending the night at a friend’s home or spending the night in jail. The male wisely chose the former and was given a ride to his friend’s home.

On Sunday August 7 2016 POLICE recovered a stolen ATV from a home in Durham. A male party was charged with possession of stolen property and is set to appear in Walkerton Provincial court in September.

On Wednesday August 10 2016 POLICE were called to a rural residence regarding an unwanted party. POLICE found that this party was a male that was wanted for a number of criminal code offences. The male in an attempt to evade arrest barricaded himself in a room. POLICE breached the barricade and arrested the offender. The male is well known to POLICE and has been actively preying upon residents of West Grey through a series of break and enters. The male party has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On Friday August 12 a motor vehicle was stolen from a rural residence. An off duty Police officer later spotted the vehicle and alerted POLICE. POLICE arrested a male party who was found sleeping in the vehicle. The male was charged with possession of stolen property and released.
