Occurrence type: Theft of gas

 

On Mon 24 Oct 2016, in the early evening hours a vehicle on Queen St in Durham had the gas cap broken and approx. a quarter tank of gas was stolen. Anyone with information can contact the West Grey Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

On Monday 24 October 2016, in the early morning hours a male driving a 2007 -13 Chev or GMC longbox pick-up entered the locked Grey County Road yard in Normanby and cut the lock to the fuel pump and stole 275 litres of fuel. Anyone with information can contact the West Grey Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Occurrence type: Fraud

 

On Thursday 27 Oct 2016, a West Grey resident was contacted by a male claiming to be from the Scotia Bank and advised the victim their account password had been breached and $600 had been sent to a nephew in India. The victim had no such family and was advised to forward money via Western Union to an account and then they would be reimbursed in full. The victim lost the money forwarded through Western Union. This is a common scam. If in doubt regarding a call received, most information relating to common fraudulent scams can easily be found by conducting a search on the internet.

 

If a phone or internet fraud is attempted the involved person should contact their local police and Canadian Anti-Fraud Center at 1-888-495-8501 and make a report.

Occurrence type: Theft of ATV

 

Sometime between the 23rd and 30th of October the victim’s barn was broken into and a 2015 black Artic Cat ATV, with snorkel kit was stolen. The key, registration and insurance papers were with the vehicle. Investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact the West Grey Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
