During the period of March 26 2017 to April 2 2017 members of the West Grey Police Service responded to 60 calls for service.
POLICE investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions with only minor injuries being reported. POLICE would like to remind the motoring public that with the spring weather upon us wildlife are on the move. Even small animals such as raccoons can cause major damage to a vehicle.
On March 26 POLICE were called to investigate an assault that had taken place in Normanby Tp. Working with the School Board and the Children’s Aid Society POLICE arrested and charged a male party.
On March 27 POLICE were called to attend The Durham Medical Center regarding a male party who was observed masturbating in the waiting area. The male was apprehended by POLICE and found to be suffering from mental health and medication issues.
On March 28 during the overnight hours POLICE were called to a rural Glenelg Tp residence to a report of an unwanted male attempting to enter a home. POLICE apprehended the male who was found to be extremely intoxicated. He had left a nearby house party and became disoriented due to darkness and the influence of alcohol. The male was returned home.
West Grey Police and the OPP are investigating a series of break and enters into cottages and thefts from vehicles that took place in the Irish lake area [Glenelg Tp]. Sometime during the night of March 30 a number of thieves forced entry into cottages and homes in that area stealing a quantity of goods. A number of unlocked vehicles were also entered. It is imperative that members of the public lock their vehicles and outbuildings during the overnight hours. If you are going to be away engage the help of a trusted neighbor to check on your house and property.
