Occurrence type: Farm vehicle accident
On Saturday 5 August 2017, at approximately 5:40pm Stan DOHERTY ( 70 years) of Durham was operating his antique tractor and towing an antique thrasher north along Concession 2 EGR in the Municipality of West Grey. He was being followed by a family member travelling in a van. Mr. DOHERTY became dislodged from the tractor while travelling at approximately 20kmh and was ran over by the towed thrasher. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Occurrence type: Theft
On Monday 31 July, sometime overnight culprit(s) stole a mobility scooter and “E” bike from a residence on Douglas St, Durham. The victim subsequently recovered the scooter abandoned in the corn field to the rear of his residence. The “E” bike has not been located and is described as black in colour with a carrier but missing the front fender. Occurrence type: Theft from auto
On Tuesday 1 August 2017, sometime overnight culprit(s) entered the victim’s unlocked car parked in her driveway and stole $400 from her purse. Apparently nothing else was taken. Occurrence type: Theft from auto
On Tuesday 1 August 2017, the victim had her car parked with the windows open at the Durham Conservation Area while she was swimming in the day use beach. Upon returning to her car she noted her black purse containing her vehicle keys and a pink wallet with her driver’s licence and $20 had been stolen. Occurrence type: Assault and Mischief
On Tuesday 1 August 2017, in the Municipality of West Grey, a youth was involved in a family dispute that resulted in an arrest and appearance at the Walkerton Youth Court for the charges of assault and 2 counts of mischief.

Occurrence type: Assault
On Friday 4 August 2017, in the morning two neighbours in an apartment building in Durham became involved in a loud verbal dispute that culminated with one of the women assaulting the other. There were no injuries, however, the accused was arrested and subsequently released with conditions of no contact. A court appearance was set for later in August.

Occurrence type: Motor vehicle collision
On Saturday 5 August 2017, in the early morning hours a lone male from the Listowel area was driving his car in the vicinity of Townsend Lake when he fell asleep at the wheel. The car travelled through a stop sign controlled intersection down the boat launch access coming to rest in the lake, at which time the driver woke up. He safely extricated himself and left the scene. Later in the morning an area resident noted the car in the water with the driver’s door open. The driver was identified by police, contacted and returned to the scene. He was charged with Careless Driving and his car was removed from the lake.

Occurrence type: Theft of dirt bike
On Sunday 6 August 2017, culprit(s) unknown entered an unlocked shed in the yard of a residence on Douglas St in Durham. Once inside they removed a pad lock and chain that was securing 2 dirt bikes. One was stolen and taken through the fields at the back of the property onto trails. The method and route travelled is the same as what occurred on 31 July where an E bike and scooter had been stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
