Between the 9th and the 15th of January 2018, The West Grey Police Service responded to 62 calls for service.
Fail to comply with Conditions of Release
On the 12th day of January 2018, West Grey Police had reasonable and probable grounds to believe that Stirling Young, Age 44 had failed to comply with the conditions of his recognizance by being in possession of a Cell Phone where the phone number had not been disclosed to York Regional Police. As such, Young was in breach of the conditions of his release and was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of Fail to Comply with Recognizance. Young was remanded into custody on Saturday the 13th to be held until Bail Court where he will appear on the 15th of January 2018 out of the Walkerton Courthouse.
Motor vehicle collisions
In the past eight days West Grey Police have responded to ten Motor Vehicle Collisions. Drivers are being reminded to adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions. Note that the Ministry of Transportation’s Ontario 511 and Traveler Information
Services website offer updated road conditions as it becomes available.
Theft
Police are investigating a theft that took place between the 13th and 14th of January 2018. Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a SIMPLIVE 42″ LED light bar that was reported stolen from the town of Ayton. The light bar is said to be valued at approximately one-hundred and fifty dollars and is described to have had a black frame with chrome around the lights. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is being asked to call the West Grey Police Service at 519-371-6911.
Community Event
West Grey Police have announced March 9th, 2018 as the date for the Second Annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge. The event raised over $5000 last year and was a great success. This year St Peter St Paul’s School has been generous enough to host the event again. The fun all starts at 11:00AM and is open to spectators who wish to cheer on our plungers.
