Between the 16th and the 24th of January 2018, The West Grey Police Service responded to 86 calls for service.
Motor vehicle collisions
In the past nine days West Grey Police have responded to eleven Motor Vehicle Collisions. Drivers are being reminded to adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions. Note that the Ministry of Transportation’s Ontario 511 and Traveler Information
Services website offer updated road conditions as it becomes available.
Assist O.S.P.C.A
On the 23rd day of January 2018, the West Grey Police Service attended a residence in the Bentick area to stand by and keep the peace while the Ontario SPCA executed a Search Warrant to check the well-being of animals. This investigation is on-going and is being completed by OSPCA investigators who is mandated by the Province of Ontario to protect and provide shelter to animals in danger. Theft from a Motor Vehicle
Police are investigating a theft that took place between the 15th and 16th of January 2018. Police are asking for the public’s assistance after a Ruger Scout .308 bolt action Rifle Serial #680-15361 was stolen from a vehicle in the Bentick area. The firearm had a Leopold 4X EER scope mid-barrel, a bipod and a black leather Ruger sling. The owner had kept the firearm in a Redfield locked case and further reports that three empty magazines had also stolen. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is being asked to call the West Grey Police Service at 519-371-6911.
Community Event
West Grey Police have announced March 9th, 2018 as the date for the Second Annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge. The event raised over $5000 last year and was a great success. This year St Peter St Paul’s School has been generous enough to host the event again. The fun all starts at 11:00AM and is open to spectators who wish to cheer on our plungers.
