Between the 1st and the 8th of January 2018, The West Grey Police Service responded to 86 calls for service.
Stolen Vehicle
On the 2nd day of February 2018, Donald WEBER (51) was arrested in the Bentick area after being found inside of a vehicle which had been reported stolen. WEBER was arrested for being in Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (over $5000) and was subsequently searched were Police located a small quantity marijuana on him. As a result of the investigation, the accused was also charged with one count of being in possession of a controlled substance and was remanded for Bail Court out of the Walkerton Courthouse.
Impaired / Over 80
In the early evening hours of February 3rd, 2018, West Grey Police began an investigation as a result a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver. Police intercepted a male and he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Police had reasonable grounds to believe that he had been operating a motor vehicle and the male was placed under arrest. As a result of the investigation, Bruce MCLAUGHLIN (53), was transported to the Police station where he provided breath samples registering over three times the legal limit. Subsequent to the investigation, MCLAUGHLIN was charged with one count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and one count Driving Over 80mgs. The accused was remanded in custody to be held for bail court out of the Walkerton Courthouse.
Motor vehicle collision
On the 5th day of February 2018, Police were dispatched to attend a two vehicle head on collision that had occurred on Grey Road 4, East of Concession 2 EGR. Investigation shows that one vehicle began sliding sideways into the path of a second vehicle causing a major collision. Upon arrival, Police found both drivers to be injured and one of them to be unconscious. The unconscious male was transported by Air Ambulance to a London hospital with serious injuries. Police completed the collision investigation and charges are currently pending. Drivers are reminded to drive to the weather conditions and to their abilities.
Drug Arrest / Fail to comply with Probation
On the 7th day of February, 2018, Police located Natasha RITCHIE (24) in the town of Durham. RITCHIE was known to be wanted by South Bruce OPP and was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest, RITCHIE was searched and found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. RITCHIE was charged with one count of being in Possession of a Controlled Substance and one count of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and is set to answer to the charges at the Walkerton Courthouse. RITCHIE was processed and later released into OPP custody.
