February 25th to March 5th 2018
Between February 25th and the 5th of March 2018, the West Grey Police Service responded to 80 calls for service.
Drug Offences
On the 2nd day of March, 2018, Police were dispatched to attend the Bentick Township area where an unwanted male was seen to be outside screaming and yelling. Upon arrival, Police observed a male who showed obvious signs of drug consumption. The male was searched and a large zip lock bag containing over 100 grams of marijuana was located. The 34 year old male of Bentick Township was arrested for one count of Possession of a Marijuana over 30grams and one count of failing to comply with conditions of a Recognizance given to a Justice. The accused was held for bail out of the Walkerton Court where he will answer to the charges.
Break and Enter
On the 4th day of March 2018, Police received a report of a Break and Enter that had taken place sometime between the late afternoon hours of March 3rd and the early afternoon hours of March 4th 2018 on Albert Street in the Town of Ayton. The victim reports that a camouflaged colored Moto Cross Helmet with an orange FXR logo on it had been stolen from the residence. The helmet is valued at approximately $220. This investigation is ongoing and Police are asking anyone with information to contact the West Grey Police at 519-369-3046 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Community Event
Friday March 9th 2018, West Grey Police are hosting our Special Olympics Polar Plunge at St Peters St Pauls School in Durham starting at 11:00am until 1:30pm. Registration is still open at www.polarplunge.ca/westgrey2018 if you are Brrra-ve enough to jump in! Everyone is welcome to come cheer on our plungers and local athletes as they show off their skills.
Criminal Harassment
On the 3rd day of March 2018, Police were advised that a male who was known to be on conditions, had continued to contact the victim multiple times after her asking him to stop. Subsequent to a Police investigation, a 55 year old Durham Male was arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Harassment and one count of Failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance given to a Justice. The male was held for bail court and is set to appear at the Walkerton Courthouse to answer to the charges.
