July 30th  to August 7th 2018

Between July 30th and August 7th the West Grey Police Service responded to 126 calls for service.

 

Utter Threats / Assault

 

On the 28th day of July 2018, West Grey Police were dispatched to attend a Durham residence were a female reported that her husband had been threatening her as well as being physically abusive. Police attended the residence and subsequent to the investigation, arrested a forty-three year old Durham male. The accused was brought to the police station where he was processed and later released on conditions. The accused was given a court date of August 15th at the Walkerton Courthouse where he will answer to the charges of Uttering threats and Assault. Drive over 50mg of Alcohol

On the 4th day of August 2018 Police were dispatched to Concession 2 WGR in the area of the Varney Road regarding an abandoned vehicle. Police patrolled the area and located a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway. Police observed the driver’s side door to be open, and a male occupant sleeping in the driver’s seat. The male was woken by police presence and found to have an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath as well as an open beer in his cup holder. The male provided a breath sample into a roadside approved screening device and was found to have over 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood within his body. Subsequently, the occupant was issued an immediate 3 day driver’s license suspension and his drivers permit was seized. Further, the male was issued a Liquor License Act offence ticket for having open alcohol in the vehicle.

 

Break and Enter

 

On the 31st day of May 2018, West Grey Police entered into an investigation were it was alleged that four youths entered a Glenelg area residence with the intent to assault another teenager. After a thorough investigation, police obtained reasonable ground to believe that the youths did enter the residence without permission and with the intent to commit a criminal offence. All four youths have since been arrested and charged with break and enter. The youths were released on conditions and will answer to the charge at a future court date.

 

Assault

On the 4th of August 2018 Police were dispatched to attend a campground in the Municipality of West Grey were a female reported that her partner had consumed numerous alcoholic beverages and had smoked marijuana when he became violent and forced the female onto the floor of their trailer. The accused pinned the victim’s shoulders down with his hands and started punching the floor around her head. The accused let the victim up and she went outside and called police. Shortly after Police arrived on scene and arrested the male for one count of assault. The male was held for a bail hearing where he was released by way of recognizance. The accused will appear at the Walkerton Courthouse on the 15th day of August, 2018 to answer to the charge.
