Child abuse – Assault with weapon

On Sunday, August 11th 2019, police received information from a person under the age of 18, who reported that her mother has been abusive for years and is that she is scared. The victim described several instances where her mother has struck her including one instance involving a weapon. Child and Family Services were contacted and the girl and her siblings were removed from the residence until further notice. Subsequent to police investigation, a 38 year old West Grey woman has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of assault. The accused was brought to the police station where she was processed and later released on an undertaking and a promise to appear. The accused is set to appear at the Walkerton courthouse on the 4th of September 2019 to answer to the charge. ATV collision

On Thursday August 8th 2019, at approximately 2:51pm, police were dispatched to attend an Albert Street residence in Ayton in regards to a 35 year old male suffered a head injury after two friends had been riding ATVs and had collided into each other. West Grey Police officers, Grey Bruce EMS and the West Grey Fire Department arrived on scene and began treating the injured male. The male was then transported by EMS to a hospital and was treated for his injuries. Police are reminding the public to always wear a helmet when driving an off road vehicle and to never drink and drive.

Charges laid after significant quantity of Meth found in Ayton

On Monday August 5th, 2019 at approximately 12:45pm, members of the West Grey Police Service executed a search warrant at a Louisa Street residence in Ayton. Upon searching the residence, police located a large amount of Methamphetamine. Police also found scales, measuring material, Canadian currency and packaging material which are consistent with tools used in trafficking narcotics. The seized Methamphetamine holds a street value of $40,000. Subsequent to police investigation, Christina HENDERSON (Age 36), Michael GAGNON (Age 39), Skylar FILSINGER (Age 18), Randall CONNELL (Age 18) and one person under the age of 18, are accused of one count of Possession of a Schedule I Substance and one count of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. Randall CONNELL is currently outstanding and wanted by the West Grey Police Service for these offences. Man arrested after firing crossbow at woman

On Monday August 5th 2019 at approximately 7:41am, police were dispatched to attend an Allan Park road residence where a male had fired an arrow from a crossbow towards a female. The female was uninjured and was able to flee the scene for her safety. Upon police arrival, the male was outside of the residence and had perched himself on the top of a hill and in the bushes. Police negotiated with the male and successfully arrested him and secure the weapon without incident. Subsequent to police investigation, a 35 year old Bentick man has been charged with one count of uttering threats, one count of weapons dangerous, two counts of possess crossbow / ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and one count of failing to comply with probation order. The accused was held for a bail hearing and is set to appear on the Tuesday the 6th day of August out of the Walkerton Courthouse.

Numerous weapons charges laid after Ayton stabbing

On Sunday August 4th 2019, the West Grey Police Service received information that there had been a stabbing at a Louisa Street residence in Ayton.  A heated argument had arose between a male and a female who were sitting in the front seat of a parked vehicle. A male third party entered the rear of the vehicle and began stabbing the front seat male passenger with a butterfly knife. A fight ensued and the female attempted to separate the two men. In consequence, she was also stabbed in the palm of her hand. Both the male and female were given medical attention at a local hospital and are in stable condition.

Subsequent to police investigation, 39 year old Michael GAGNON of Hanover was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of assault with a weapon as well as numerous weapons offences. The accused was held for a bail hearing and is set to appear on Tuesday August 6th, 2019 at the Walkerton Courthouse.
