On Saturday October 5, 2019 West Grey Police responded to a report of a break and enter at the Durham Post Office. Sometime between 5:00 p.m. on October 4th and 8:45 a.m. on October 5th an unknown suspect gained entrance to the post office foyer by damaging the lock. Many post office box holders have keys that allow entrance to the foyer and damaging the lock to gain entrance is unusual. On Tuesday October 8, 2019 West Grey Police arrested an individual after he shoplifted alcohol from the LCBO in Durham for the third time in a month. The individual has been previously charged for the same offence and was on conditions not to attend the LCBO at the time of the latest theft. He was held for a bail hearing and released with stricter conditions.
On October 8, 2019 West Grey Police were called to a residence in Durham to remove an unwanted person. The individual in question was extremely intoxicated and was transported to the station and lodged in a cell due to his level of intoxication and the lack of anyone to care for him. He was released when sufficiently sober and issued a Provincial Offences Notice under the Trespass to Property Act.
On October 10th West Grey Police Officers arrested an individual on outstanding Provincial Offences Warrants. He was held until he could appear before a Justice in the morning to be issued a court date.
On October 10th West Grey Police officers attended a residence in West Grey where an individual did significant damage to a home and assaulted the resident of that home. He was arrested, charged with Mischief, Assault and Failing to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance and was held for a bail hearing.
