Fraud
West Grey Police Service was advised of a fraud that occurred this week as well. A West Grey resident received an e-mail from “AMAZON” advising a big screen TV worth $5800 was being delivered to his house and if he hadn’t ordered it he needed to call them. He did they said he needed to send them $1000 in google play card to stop the order and it would be refunded to him after the order was returned. The cards were purchased and the car numbers were provided to the Fraudsters. It is important that Google Play cards can be converted to cash easily. The fraudsters also called back a couple of more times to try and get more money from the victim but no more cards were purchased. West Grey Police wish to remind people to not send money or gift cards to people you don’t know. When in doubt, or when an offer or direction seems unusual, contact police or The Ant- Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-5801.
