Collisions
Police responded to sixteen motor vehicle collisions this week, eight of which involved deer on the roadways and several others involved vehicles sliding off of the roads. Drivers are reminded to adjust their driving habits accord to the weather and road conditions. By law, if the damage caused by the collision exceeds $2000 (between both vehicles combined), you are required to contact police as soon as practicable to file a report.
Theft
On November 11th, 2019 in the early morning hour’s three suspects who were in an older model white Ford Ranger pick-up truck that had been seen pulling a tandem trailer, stole a 2013 Arctic Cat ATV, a 1984 Honda three wheeler and a 2016 Artic Cat ZR7000 from a local business. Toy Drive
The West Grey Police Service is excited to announce the kick off to the 2019 annual Holiday Toy Drive. This year police have partnered again with McLean’s Home Hardware, the Durham Food Bank and local schools along with our generous business community and residents to bring some magic to Christmas morning for local children. Donation bins are located at the West Grey Police Service, McLean’s Home Hardware, the Durham Medical Clinic and Granny’s General Store in both Ayton and Neustadt. Officers will again be collecting toys at the Hanover Walmart on Saturday November 30th, 2019 from 9am to 3pm and there will be a Food Drive at Durham Foodland on December 7th after the Santa Claus Parade. Officers will collect toys at McLean’s Home Hardware that day as well. We will be happy to take toy and financial donations up to December 13th. Packing and distribution of toys will take place the following week just in time for Christmas. Thank you all for your generous support and have a great holiday season!
Bail Conditions
On November 9th, 2019 the West Grey Police Service arrested a man who had been wanted for Failing to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance of Bail. Investigation led to further charges being laid in relation to an incident where the accused had fled from police at a traffic stop earlier this summer. The West Grey resident is now facing numerous charges and was held for a bail hearing where he was remanded into custody.
Theft
Sometime overnight between November 13th and 14th, unknown suspect(s) stole a Black 2016 Ford F150 XLT Supercrew pick-up truck from the Cooks Bus Line parking lot on Norpark Avenue. Police are seeking the public’s help and asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the West Grey Police Service at 519-371-6911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
