Assault

 

In the early hours of Saturday December 7th, 2019 officers were dispatched to a Highway 6 residence where a man had got into a physical altercation with two females. An investigation resulted in the 42 year old West Grey man being charged with two counts of assault. He was held for a bail hearing and later released on conditions until December 11th when he was scheduled to appear at the Walkerton Courthouse.

 

Winter Parking By-Law

 

A reminder with the recent heavy snowfall that as of November 15th and until April 15th 2020, no vehicle is allowed to be parked on the roadway in any manner as to interfere with the clearing of snow from the hours of midnight to 7:00a.m. Our West Grey snow plow drivers have been hard at work and appreciate your cooperation.

 

 

RIDE Programs

 

The West Grey Police Service has conducted numerous RIDE programs throughout the week and will continue to do so throughout the holidays. Police are equipped with the tools to combat impaired driving and will continue the pursuit of our ultimate goal of having the safest roadways in Ontario.

 

Vehicle Theft

 

On December 9, 2019 West Grey Police officers responded to a residence in Durham for a reported vehicle theft.  Subsequently it was learned that the vehicle had been involved in the theft of gas as well.  A short while later the vehicle was located but fled from police. A warrant is being sought for the driver who was identified by witnesses. The male will be facing charges of Theft of Motor Vehicle, Theft under $5000, Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Recognizance, Breach of Probation and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The male party of no fixed address has an outstanding warrant from other police services as well.
