On May 2 and 3, 2020 West Grey Police officers observed a blue and white sport bike being operated in an unsafe manner in the town of Durham. The bike fled when police attempted to stop it. A public appeal asking for information about the bike and its driver(s) was put out and we have received numerous tips that have helped us identify possible drivers of the bike. We appreciate the public’s assistance.
On May 3, 2020 police were advised that the pavilion at the soccer field was insecure. Just after midnight on May 4, 2020 officers investigated a possible impaired driver leaving the Town of Durham headed southbound. The vehicle was located and the female driver was placed under arrest and transported back to the West Grey Police station where breath tests were administered and she registered blood alcohol contact readings well above the legal limit. The 28 year old Mount Forest resident received an automatic 90 day license suspension and was released with a court date in July where she will answer to the charges.
On May 3rd in the early morning hours police responded to a fire that was deliberately set in a rural address mailbox on Concession 12 NDR. Later in the day, the mailbox owner reported damage to another mailbox owned by a close relative. West Grey Police take both these incidents very seriously and they remain under investigation. On May 5, 2020 a number of storage units located in the Industrial park in Durham were entered and items belonging to unit renters were stolen.

On May 7th in the early morning hours West Grey Police Service investigated a 32 year old West Grey man. The male was found to be in possession of purple fentanyl and methamphetamine. He was charged and released to appear in court in July to answer to the charges.
On May 5, 2020 West Grey Police were advised to be on the lookout for a suspect travelling through West Grey in a vehicle stolen from London.
Police located the stolen vehicle and were able to initiate a stop of the stolen vehicle just north of Durham deploying a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle. The driver was arrested and is facing eighteen charges relating to theft, cannabis possession for the purpose of distribution, possession of stolen property, weapons offences and failure to comply with release orders and probation orders. The 22 year old male from London remains in custody at the time of writing.
