On Friday June 12th 2020, West Grey Police responded to a 911 call at a residence on John St. in Durham. Upon arriving police were met by two females who reported they had been assaulted.  It was determined during the investigation that a male party known to the victims attended the residence and an altercation broke out while attempting to have the male leave the property. The male suspect assaulted one victim and then administered an aerosol bear repellant to the other female victim. The male suspect then fled the scene. With the assistance of Hanover Police Service the male was located at a motel in Hanover. West Grey Police attended and the male suspect was arrested without incident. A 28 y/o male from Stratford is now facing a number charges including: Assault, assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, fail to comply with release order and failing to comply with probation order. The accused was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody where he remains.

On Friday June 12, 2020  West Grey Police officers were dispatched to a residence in Ayton for a disturbance.  Investigation revealed that a 23 yr old resident of the home had smashed property and threatened other residents of the premises. The  male was arrested and charged with Mischief under $5000.00 and Uttering Threats-Cause Death/Bodily Harm.  He was released with conditions.  The next day officers were dispatched to an attempted break in at a residence on Grey Road 3 near Ayton.  The same individual was located nearby and was re-arrested and charged with the break and entering.   He will appear in court in July to answer to all the charges.

On Saturday June 13, 2020 West Grey Police were advised that unknown culprit(s) entered the Durham Landfill site and stole full gas can, scrap copper wire and scrap bicycles.  If you have any information about this theft, please contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222 TIPS or West Grey Police at 519-3781-6911.

On Tuesday June 16, 2020 member of the provincial repeat offender parole enforcement  assisted West Grey Police in  arresting  a 31 year old male resident of West Grey who was out on bail  facing multiple charges and wanted on warrants. He was taken directly to the Central North Correctional Centre and remains in custody at this time.

On Wednesday June 17, 2020 West Grey Police Service were advised that a male party who was wanted for Assault, Criminal Harassment and Uttering Threats against a 24 yr old female West Grey resident had been arrested by the Barrie Police Service.  A West Grey officer attended the Barrie Police Service and arrested a 25 year old of no fixed address.  He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in August to  answer to the charges.
