On June 19, 2020 West Grey Police received a 911 call from a residence in Ayton. Officers responded and investigation revealed a 33 year old male had assaulted his father and damaged his parents’ property. The male was taken into custody, charged with Assault and Mischief and was held for bail. He was released on bail the following day with conditions and will appear in court in August to answer to the charges.
On June 21, 2020 West Grey Police officers responded to an address in Neustadt for a family dispute. A 28 year old female attempted to stab a male sibling with a knife and fled the residence before officers arrived. She was located on June 22, 2020, arrested and charged with Assault with a weapon. She was released with conditions and will appear in court in August.
On June 21, 2020 security cameras recorded a lone male suspect leaving an address on Townsend Lake Road after a break and enter to a shed on the property. Investigation of the break in continues. West Grey Police laid impaired driving charges against two West Grey men after separate incidents on June 20, 2020.Both males, one in his late 30’s and one in his late 60’s, were issued automatic 90 day license suspension, their vehicles were towed and they will each attend court in August. The older male faces additional charges under the Highway Traffic Act. A 3rd male from the Clifford area was issued a 3 day license suspension for having a Blood Alcohol content between .05 and .08 for every 100 mls of blood, after West Grey Police received a complaint that he was drinking after driving. West Grey Police encourage the public to report these incidents and help us keep our roadways safe.
West Grey Police Service has been called multiple times lately for reports of mischief to road signs in the municipality. These incidents create a danger to drivers and the culprits, if located, will be charged and prosecuted. On June 22, 2020 West Grey Police received a traffic complaint about a vehicle travelling north of Durham . Officers located and investigated the driver. The driver was arrested for possession of methamphetamine as a result. He will appear in court in August.
