On Thursday August 6, 2020 a female from West Grey attend the police station to report she had been assaulted.  The victim was struck with a metal bar and stitches were required to close a head wound suffered in the assault.  Police located and arrested the culprit.  A 51 year old female from West Grey is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.  She was released with conditions and will appear in court in October to answer to the charges.

 

There have been a rash of break and enters as well as thefts in Durham over the past week. On August 6, 2020 Municipal staff reported a break and enter at the Ball Diamond pavilion. A Pepsi cooler was damaged and the display piece on top was stolen along with a set of keys.  One of the Works sheds was also broken into.  A small number of hand tools were stolen. In the early morning hours of August 9, 2020 outbuildings at an address on Douglas St were entered and a wheelbarrow was stolen and used to make off with two Dewalt wireless drills with chargers, a Stihl 210 chainsaw and a Black and Decker sander.  Keys for motor vehicles stored in the outbuilding were also stolen.  The same night an attempt was made to steal a motorcycle from an address on Elm St W.  Ownership for a different motorcycle as well as a motorcycle jacket were taken.  As well, two suspects, one male in a camo hoodie and one male in a yellow jacket attempted to steal a truck from a business on South St East, their attempt was observed by an employee who happened to be on site but the suspects fled the scene on foot and have not been located.  If you have information about any of these crimes please contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or West Grey Police at 519-371-6911.

 

On Monday August 10, 2020 West Grey Police officers on patrol in Durham located a male party who was on conditions not to be in the Town of Durham after having been charged with an assault in a separate incident.  The male  was also found in possession of a weapon although he was prohibited from having one.  He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.  Subsequently he was released with additional conditions and will appear in court in October  to answer to seven different charges.

 

On Tuesday August 11, 2020 West Grey Police officers responded to a family dispute in the Former Glenelg Township within the Municipality of West Grey between two males.  A 27 year old male resident of West Grey was arrested and charged with one count assault.  The male was released with conditions and will appear in court in October to answer to the charge.

 

On Tuesday August 11, 2020 at around 3:00 p.m. West Grey Police were advised that a 22 year old female had made threats of suicide and left from an address on Douglas St on foot.  An extensive search was conducted.  Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and a canine unit assist in the search.   The female was located in a corn field just before 9:00 p.m. and was transported to hospitalWestGreyPoliceCrest
