On August 12, 2020 West Grey Police arrested two impaired drivers within hours of each other.  The first, a 55 year old female from Huron East, was arrested after causing a three vehicle collision and subsequently assaulting the driver of one of the other vehicles.  She was arrested, processed and released on conditions. She will appear in court in September to answer to multiple charges.  The second impaired, was a 67 West Grey male.  He was already facing impaired driving charges from a previous incident and he will appear in court to answer to the additional impaired operation charges in September.

In the early morning hours of August 18, 2020 West Grey Police officers received a call from a distraught individual alleging that people were trying to kill him.  Officers arrived on scene and located a sole male party, clearly intoxicated, in a cabin he had forcibly entered. The male attempted to avoid arrest by running from the cabin but was quickly  arrested and charged with offences related to the break in.  He was later released with conditions and will appear in court in October.

Over three days in the past week there were three vehicle thefts and additional thefts from vehicles where all were left unlocked.  Fortunately all three vehicles were  recovered.  In addition a side by side was stolen but because  the key was not in the vehicle it was abandoned by the thieves.  It is expected all of these crimes are connected.  The suspect(s) have not been identified as yet but charges will be laid when identification is confirmed.  If you have information about this criminal acts, please contact Crimestoppers or West Grey Police.
