Sometime in the early morning hours of September 4, 2020 there was a rash of thefts south of Durham on Highway 6 and in Marshall Heights subdivision.  Although multiple unlocked vehicles were entered the dollar amount of money stolen was minimal and some items of value were left untouched.  Security cameras at one scene captured an image of a lone male wearing a light coloured hat and hoodie.  If you have any information about these thefts, please contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or West Grey Police at 519-371-6911.

 

Sometime between 7 p.m. September 2, 2020 and 9 p.m. on September 3, 2020 unknown culprit(s) stole a Ford F150 from a residence  on Concession 10 NDR in West Grey.  The vehicle was recovered on September 7, 2020 with in the village of Ayton. 

 

On September 4, 2020 West Grey Police were notified of a break and enter to a residence located in the township of Normanby within the Municipality of West Grey.  A gun cabinet containing four rifles and a shotgun was stolen sometime in the previous five weeks.  A John Deer riding mower. Playstation 4 and X box game console were also taken. 

 

On September 2, 2020 West Grey police were advised that approximately $125, 000.00 of damage to the pipeline being installed on Concession 2 WGR south of Grey Road 25 in West Grey.  There are no suspects at this time.

 

On September 7, 2020 West Grey Police were contacted by a resident on Concession 4 NDR reporting that his mailbox was stolen sometime overnight.  Another mailbox on the road was knocked off its post.  Again, there are no suspects at this time.  On September 9th police received two additional reports of damage to mail boxes.

 

On September 9, 2020 West Grey Police received a report of youth walking through a local gravel pit carrying a water pump.  The youth were located and the pump was recovered.  No charges were laid.  The owner of the pump has not been identified as yet.

 

On September 6, 2020 West Grey Police officers conducted a search warrant on a residence in Ayton.  Property stolen from a residence on Concession 10 NDR at the end of July was located and recovered. A 41 year old male resident of the Ayton address was arrested and charged with possession of the stolen items.  The male was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released, this male’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 30, 2020 to answer to the charges.
