On November 9, 2020 West Grey Police officers were advised that a break in occurred to storage containers on Grey Road 3. A large quantity of hand tools and several generators were stolen. On November 6, 2020 a resident of Durham reported that groceries were stolen from her vehicle while she was parked outside a local business. This incident and the motor vehicle theft from Tim Horton’s last week highlight the need to lock your vehicle doors even when you are only planning to be out of the vehicle for a short time.
On November 7, 2020 Tim Horton’s staff alerted police that on the evening of November 5, 2020 two females entered Tim Horton’s and one of them stole the poppy donation box along with the poppies. Suspect is described as a heavy set female with medium length auburn hair approximately thirty to forty years old. The female accompanying her had long dark hair and a medium build. She was wearing a grey scarf, grey sweater and jeans. She is suspected to be between thirty five and forty five years old. The suspects were in a four door grey automobile thought to possibly be a Honda Civic. The West Grey Police Service will again be spearheading the annual Christmas Toy Drive for children in our community.
New unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Germania Mutual Insurance in Ayton, Granny’s General Store in both Ayton and Neustadt, the West Grey Municipal office, The West Grey Police Service or Farlow’s Home Hardware before December 17th, 2020. West Grey Police Service officers will be at the Durham Foodland Farlow’s Home Hardware on December 5th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. to collect food and toy donations as well .
