West Grey Police Partnership with Georgian College
The West Grey Police Service is excited to announce a new partnership with Georgian College – Police Foundations Program.
Over the next 5 weeks starting February 9, 2021 members of the West Grey Police Service will partake in a mentoring program with students at the Georgian College Police Foundations Program.
During the five weeks officers and students will tackle a number of sensitive and difficult topics such as:
- Next of Kin Notifications
- Suicide
- Officer Wellness
- Crime Victims
- Domestic Violence and Abuse
- Child Abuse
- 911 Response
Ideally, the mentor program would be conducted in person, but due to the current COVID-19 regulations some aspects of the program will be done virtually between the student and the mentor officer or in-person with proper safety precautions in place.
This mentor program will provide students with personal insight to topics that go far beyond your typical “wiki or google” overview and provide a personal relationship between participants that will assist the students as they graduate from the Georgian Program and enter the Ontario Police Recruiting System to pursue their career.
