Weekly Media Release

During the period of July 8 to July 22, 2021, the West Grey Police Service responded to 178 total calls for service.

Officers responded to 22 Traffic Complaints / Enforcements with 8 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 46 Police Assistance and 17 Suspicious Persons Complaints. Officers prevented Breach of the Peace at 7 calls and attended at 8 Family / Domestic Disputes. Police provided assistance and de-escalation at 5 Mental Health Act calls while also responding to 8 911 calls and assisting ambulance or fire 5 times.

Criminal Investigations (C.I.B.) and Street Crime Unit (S.C.U.) continue to investigate 1 Break and Enter occurrences that took place in the former Bentinck Township.

C.I.B. have issued an Arrest Warrant for a 28 year old male from Hanover for numerous Bail Violations. Further information on this will be released at a later time.

On July 18, 2021 a 28-year-old male from Guelph was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Forcible Confinement.  He was held in custody for a Bail Hearing and released the next day by the Ontario Court of Justice on a Recognizance of Bail.

On July 19, 2021 members of West Grey Police arrested a 42-year-old male from the Lucknow area following a brief foot chase.  The male is facing charges for one count of assault.  He was processed and released on an Undertaking.  He will appear in Walkerton Court of Justice in August.
