Traffic Stop Leads to Criminal Charges – On August 13, 2022 West Grey Police observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 6 near Durham.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was known by officers to have an outstanding Arrest Warrant.

A 46-year old male from Holstein was arrested and charged with:

  • Operate Motor Vehicle While Prohibited – (Criminal Code of Canada)
  • Numerous Highway Traffic Act offences.
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Insurance

The accused was processed and released on an Undertaking.  He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton in September.

 911 Call Leads to Two Arrests – On August 14, 2022 West Grey Police were called to Disturbance on Hunter Street, Durham.  Police arrived and learned that a domestic dispute had taken place between and male and a female.  As a result of the investigation it was learned that both persons were on a previous release orders not to associate with each other.

The 20-year old female from Hanover was arrested and has been charged with:

  • Adult – Fail to Comply with Release Order

The accused was processed and released on an Undertaking. She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton at a later date.

The 22-year old male of No Fixed Address was arrested and has been charged with:

  • Adult – Fail to Comply with Release Order

The accused was held by police for a Bail Hearing, but was later released on a Recognizance by the Ontario Court of Justice.

Disturbance Call Keeps One in Custody – On August 17, 2022 West Grey Police were called to an address on Garafraxa Street North, Durham after receiving a reported Disturbance.  When officers arrived a male was located and identified. 

As a result of the investigation a 29-year old male from Wingham was arrested and charged with:

  • Adult – Failure to Comply with Release Order (2 Counts).

The accused was held by police for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody at the time of this report.
