Weapons Arrest – On Monday October 24th, 2022 the West Grey Police in partnership with the Canada Border Security Agency (C.B.S.A.) and the Ontario Provincial Police Major Crime Unit (OPP M.C.U.), Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (P.W.E.) and Regional Support Team (R.S.T.) executed a search warrant at a property in the Municipality of West Grey.
Officers located and seized a large quantity of firearms, firearm components, prohibited devices, ammunition and $3,500.00 in cash.
As a result of this investigation a 24-year old male from West Grey has been arrested and is charged with 25 Criminal Code offences as follows;
- Possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm. (15 Counts)
- Possession of a prohibited device.(2 Counts)
- Possession of a loaded restricted firearm.(2 Counts)
- Manufacturing a firearm
- Possession of a non-restricted firearm.
- Possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm for the purpose of trafficking.
- Possession of a prohibited device.
- Breach of a firearms prohibition (5 year).
- Breach of a firearms prohibition (lifetime).
The accused remains in custody following a Bail Hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice.
Drug Arrest – On Tuesday, October 25th, 2022, the West Grey Police responded to a report of gunshots in Ayton, Ontario.
Officers arrived and located a male in the area on a motorcycle with improper plates and initiated an investigation.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified, and it was learned that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The operator was arrested on the strength of the warrants and transported to WGPS station for processing. A search of the male’s property incidental to arrest was conducted.
Officers located and seized a large quantity of “Crystal Methamphetamine” worth a value of $ 15,000, a small quantity of Fentanyl valued at $ 100, a quantity of Psilocybin – “magic mushrooms” valued at
$ 100, several electronic scales, baggies, and drug paraphernalia.
As a result of this investigation a 34-year-old male from West Grey has been arrested and is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 1 Substance – Fentanyl
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule 3 Substance – Psilocybin
The accused was held in custody for a Bail Hearing but was later released by the Ontario Court of Justice.
Threats Arrest – On Wednesday, October 26th, 2022, the West Grey Police received a Threats complaint involving students at a surrounding high school. West Grey Police along with Hanover Police took a 16-year old female into custody without incident.
The young person has been arrested and charged with:
- YP – Threats
The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and remains in custody.
