During the week(s) of July 12 – 26, 2023 – the West Grey Police Service responded to 156 total calls for service including –

- 1 – Sexual Assault
- 4 – Suspicious person / vehicle
- 6 – Theft
- 2 – Sudden Death Investigations
- 23 – Traffic complaint / enforcement
Impaired / Over 80 – On Friday July 14, 2023 WGPS were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check on Grey Road 4. A driver registered a FAIL on a roadside Alcohol Screening Device and was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to the police station and underwent breathalyzer tests.
As a result of the investigation a 49-year-old from West Grey was arrested and is charged with:
- Adult – Operation while impaired / Over 80
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton at a later date. Vehicle was impounded and driver’s license suspended.
Domestic Dispute / Bail Violation– On Sunday July 16, 2023 West Grey Police were called to an ongoing domestic dispute.
As a result of the investigation a 42-year-old from West Grey was arrested and is charged with:
- Adult – Assault (X3)
- Adult – Utter Threats (X4)
- Adult – Assault Bodily Harm
The accused was held in custody for a Bail Hearing, but was later released by the Ontario Court of Justice on a Recognizance.
On Tuesday July 18, 2023 the accused violated the release order and was charged with:
- Adult – Fail to Comply with release order.
Assault Police / Mischief – On Monday July 24, 2023 West Grey Police arrested a 35-year-old female for violation a Conditional Sentence Order. The accused was transported to WGPS headquarters for a hearing.
While in police custody the accused filled a drink container with urine.
When officers went to remove the accused from the cell for a video hearing she spit on officers, then threw urine at the officers and inside the cell area.
As a result of the investigation the Walkerton resident was arrested and is charged with:
- Adult – Assault Police
- Adult – Mischief
The accused remains in custody.
Fail to Comply with Release Order – On Tuesday July 25, 2026 West Grey officers witnessed a person known to them violated a release order by attending a prohibited address in the Town of Ayton.
As a result of the investigation a 35-year-old from West Grey was arrested and is charged with:
- Adult – Fail to Comply with release order.
The accused was transported to WGPS station and held for a Bail Hearing.
